The Lawyer Referral Service is a program operated by the Law Society to assist people in finding a lawyer who will provide them with the legal services they require. There is no charge for the first half-hour interview, after which the member of the public can decide whether or not to engage the lawyer at the full fee rates, and the lawyer can decide whether to accept the engagement.

The Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) is funded by the Law Foundation of BC and operated by the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association. The LRS program enables the public to access lawyers practicing in the field of law required for the particular situation and provides the opportunity to have a consultation with a lawyer for up to 30 minutes for a fee of $25 plus taxes.
